►2007 - Conestoga-Rovers & Associates
CRA Waterloo was awarded the 2007 Corporate Tree Hugger of the Year Award. This was awarded to CRA as a direct result of the April 28, 2007 tree-planting day at Laurel Creek Conservation Area. The CRA Social Committee purchased 470 trees for this event and approximately 40 CRA staff and family members planted them.
►2004 - Union Gas & City of Waterloo
The first-ever Tree Hugger Awards were presented October 27, 2004 to two individuals who have been integral in moving the 10,000 Trees Project forward. Pam Gent, Union Gas (left) and Bob Balcarras, City of Waterloo (right). 10,000 Trees' Chair, Mark Whaley (centre) made the presentations. Pam's coordination of the Union Gas sponsorship has been invaluable to the organizations success to date. The contribution of both human and financial resources Union Gas has made to the plantings is what has allowed 10,000 Trees to get that much closer to its planting goal. City of Waterloo staff member Bob Balcarras has been involved in each and every planting. He is a patient instructor and leader for the many children who have been involved in getting trees into the ground. Bob's involvement in this movement has brought excitement and satisfaction to is many youthful volunteers.
