About 10,000 Trees

10,000 Trees is a not-for-profit, tree-roots environmental initiative begun in Waterloo in 2000 by concerned volunteers; it seeks strategically to re-forest designated growth areas. This award-winning environmentally-conscious organization began with the goal of planting 10,000 trees in 10 years in the City of Waterloo. The organization now has broadened its view to connect people, the environment and our common future as a best practice for communities across North America.

The group has been instrumental in organizing numerous tree-planting events. 10,000 Trees has been the recipient of awards from international organizations, and has been instrumental in the City of Waterloo receiving recognition from both provincial and national organizations, including a gold medal International Award in 2003 from The Livable Communities Competition.

10,000 Trees is an incorporated, non-profit group with full charitable status.
